Welcome to Houston – Tips for Super Bowl Visitors and Locals

HOUSTON – Most of the action and congestion for the Super Bowl in Houston is expected to begin Jan. 28, with the nine-day fan festival leading up to game day.

Downtown Houston is the epicenter of where the activities and fun will take place.

Streets surrounding Discovery Green are closed, including Avenida de Las Americas, Lamar, and McKinney. Parts of La Branch are shutdown in front of the Toyota Center. A section of Austin is also closed.

Driving

Driving in to town will be a challenge with over 100,000 extra people expected each day. It is advised to come into downtown from the west side if possible.

For locals, your best bet may be to take alternate streets or those advised by the Waze app to save you time.

From the west side, take Washington which turns into Franklin, or Memorial Drive, Allen Parkway, West Dallas or West Gray. From the south side, take Almeda or Elgin. From the east, take Leeland, Harrisburg or Navigation. From the north, Hirsch, Jensen or Elysian.
