Traffic stop results in Arrest
WINCHESTER, Va. (WSET) — Winchester man has been arrested and charged with numerous crimes after police said he was stopped for driving with illegally tinted windows, and they found more.
Police said while one officer was trying to obtain information from the driver during the traffic stop on Monday around 5:45 p.m. near Berryville Avenue, a second officer saw a bag appearing to contain crack cocaine inside the vehicle through the window.
After searching the vehicle, police said they found more than 4.6 ounces of a white rock substance, clear baggies, three cell phones, more than $5,900 in U.S. currency, two digital scales, 20 gauge shotgun slug, and a plastic spoon with white powder residue all inside.
Police said the suspect, identified as Darren Banks, 35, was not able to give them identification, but officers were able to locate his social security number.
They said Banks was also driving on a suspended license due to a prior DUI.
Banks has been charged with possession with intent to distribute and driving with a revoked driver’s license.
He’s been taken to the Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center.
