Teen charged for assault of 70-year-old woman in Whole Foods parking lot in West U
West University police have charged a man accused in a brazen act of violence against a 70-year-old woman.
Elijah Wilson is charged with felony aggravated robbery for the attack that happened at the Whole Foods Market in the 4000 block of Bellaire on Feb. 7.
Police said at the time of the incident, Wilson was out on bond for a robbery and evading arrest and was also wanted in connection with another robbery that happened before the Feb. 7 assault.
The victim told police that two men took her purse and kicked her in the head.
When officers arrived, they found the woman with minor injuries after the assault.
The victim, who is not being named to protect her identity, told Eyewitness News she was frightened by the violent incident.
She said she noticed the suspects acting strange near a vehicle as she pulled into the parking lot.
Suddenly, the men ran up and tried to grab her purse.
The woman said she held tight to her bag, but she was pushed to the ground by the suspects, twisting her ankle in the fall.
While she was on the ground, the woman said she was kicked in the face. That is when the thieves grabbed her purse and took off.
Police said the suspects got away in a black Ford Focus.
According to police records, the same Ford Focus was later recovered abandoned in a ditch on Feb. 11.
Investigators found that fingerprints on the vehicle led to Casey Davis, who is in the Harris County jail for a robbery. During an interview with Davis, he revealed to officers that Wilson, his brother, committed the robberies.
Both Davis and Wilson had also been arrested last year in December for evading and robbery.
